the benefits of massage are far reaching and the effects on the body can be dramatic

Poor posture, injuries, long and short term medical conditions, stress or strain can all cause a build-up of muscular tension. If left untreated this can place further stress on joints, ligaments and tendons and can develop into more serious and complex issues.
Massage is an effective tool in releasing muscular tension and pain, resetting imbalances and aiding the body in repairing itself. Regular massage may also help to prevent problems and injuries arising in the first place.

conditions benefiting from massage include:

chronic muscle tension
postural problems and muscular imbalances
repetitive strain injuries e.g. tennis elbow
backache, neckache and headaches
joint pain
sciatic pain
sports injuries
whiplash
long term medical conditions
general fatigue, stress and tension

Therapies

SPORTS

Clinical Sports & Remedial Massage uses a range of techniques including deep tissue massage to treat specific injuries, correct postural imbalances and possibly increase performance. It also provides relief from general aches and pains, stress and tension. Sports massage can benefit anyone with injury, pain or discomfort arising from sport, occupational or recreational activities, lifestyle, or medical conditions. Regular treatment may help to prevent the onset of injury and further muscular tension.

STONE

Hot Stone Therapy is a deep therapeutic treatment using heated volcanic basalt stones to massage the body. It is extremely effective in promoting muscle and tissue relaxation, relieving pain, alleviating stress, and improving circulation. It can be incorporated into sports and holistic massage giving a fusion of massage techniques that provide an extremely effective treatment. Cold marble stones may also be used to aid recovery from injury and invigorate the muscles.

HOLISTIC

Holistic Massage can be relaxing, invigorating or revitalising. It promotes feelings of wellbeing by relieving physical and mental stress and tension. The experience can be enhanced with the use of pre-blended aromatherapy oils (included in the price).

About

Carol Stratford

I have been a Massage Therapist for 10 years. I am fully qualified and a member of The Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM), and The Complementary Therapies Association (CThA)

After leaving school I studied sport, outdoor education and coaching in Edinburgh. I then went on to gain a BA(hons) in Sport, Health and Physical Education from the University of Bangor. Throughout this time I worked in the leisure and sports industry teaching swimming, outdoor pursuits and skiing as well as lifeguarding and working on children’s sports camps. I subsequently completed a PGCE and worked for 8 years as a Nursery Teacher. I then decided to return to my roots and train in Massage. I have an ITEC Diploma in  Holistic Massage Therapy and a Btec Level 5 in Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy from the Oxford School of Sports Massage. Post graduate training includes Remedial Massage Techniques for Lower Back Pain and Hot and Cold Stone Massage. As a member of the ISRM and CThA I am required to take part in Continuing Professional Development and very much enjoy attending new courses and seminars as well as keeping up-to-date with new techniques and theories.

I enjoy treating a range of clients with varying needs and conditions from the knee problems of a dedicated runner to relaxing and de-stressing a mum! Whatever you’re massage requirements I aim to give an individual treatment.
